Harry Kane full of praise for Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane insists that his impressive goalscoring record over the past year is largely down to the work of manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Harry Kane has hailed the positive influence of Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino for helping him reach his top level.

The England international burst onto the scene last season with a string of impressive displays for both club and country.

Since being given a chance to make an impact at White Hart Lane 10 months ago, the 22-year-old has since gone on to score 39 goals in all.

Kane believes that his upturn in fortunes is largely down to the training-ground work at Spurs, where he is often pushed all the way by former Argentina international centre-back Pochettino.

"The first year, last year, he did a lot of work with me around the box, the penalty area movement," he told the FA's official website. "[Pochettino's] a defender and knows what to come up against as a striker. Little tips here and there have helped, and a lot of work in the gym.

"He still does a lot of that work with not just me but everyone, that explosive power work and you can see in our performances this season how that is a big part of our game, we're fitter than most teams and that is a big part of what he wants. [Spurs] give everyone a chance and if you work hard for the manager the rewards are there."

Kane is expected to play a part in England's friendly against France on Tuesday night following Jamie Vardy's withdrawal from the squad.
