Alan Mullery "very impressed" by Ryan Mason

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alan Mullery has been "very impressed" by how Ryan Mason has broken into the Spurs first team this season.

Mason had spent seven loan spells away from White Hart Lane before making his Premier League debut this term and has become a regular in midfield.

Mullery, who won the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup during his eight years at Tottenham, feels that Mason has the right combination of talent and hunger to be a long-term success for the Londoners.

"I've been very impressed," he told the club's official website. "When I look at him he's not the biggest but he's got all the touch, control and ability and you can see that in the matches he's played so far. He doesn't hide and that shows the hunger he's got to go out and play.

"I'd like to see him dominate even more in there with that talent, he's is relatively young still but go out and do it, have a go. He's done well and I'd love to see him maintain it for the rest of the season."

Mason, 23, made his Spurs bow in 2008 but it took him nearly six years to follow that with a top-flight appearance.
