Harry Redknapp has claimed that the England job is for an "older man".
The Tottenham Hotspur boss is the favourite to take the role following Fabio Capello's resignation last month.
"There's some young managers like [Southampton boss] Nigel Adkins and people like that, who in the future I'm sure would be fantastic but, at the moment, probably too young," Redknapp told ITV Sport. "It is an older man's job, I think. It's not a job for a young guy."
Premier League clubs were reportedly sent a letter by the Football Association last month telling them that they were not to discuss Redknapp in connection with the England job.
