Gylfi Sigurdsson hails Tottenham Hotspur's "character" as they staged a comeback to beat Southampton 3-2 at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has hailed the team's "character" as they overcame Southampton 3-2 at White Hart Lane.

Spurs went two goals down thanks to strikes from Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez, but the Iceland international was full of praise for the team after the victory.

He told Sky Sports News: "We started badly but we've got lots of character in that team and we showed it today.

"We bounced back and it was great to be able to come back after going 1-0 down and then 2-0 down, especially at home."

Sigurdsson scored the stoppage-time winner with a 25-yard effort after Christian Eriksen had scored twice to level things up.
