Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has moved one step closer to securing his exemption from military duty.
The South Korean is currently expected to complete two years of military service, but the 26-year-old has been provided with the opportunity to earn an exemption.
Son is currently representing his country at the Asian Games and if the team is successful, the squad will avoid having to take a break from their careers.
South Korea have now reached the final of the tournament, with Son playing the full 90 minutes in the 3-1 victory over Vietnam on Wednesday.
Either Japan or the United Arab Emirates will await South Korea in Sunday's final.
