Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane confirms that he is expecting to hold discussions over a new contract with the Lilywhites in the "coming months".

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has revealed that he is expecting to hold contract talks with the Lilywhites in the "coming months".

The England captain has entered the final 18 months of his existing deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and speculation surrounding his future is starting to intensify once more.

Kane tried and failed to force an exit from the North London club in 2021 after ending another season without silverware, but Spurs could be pressured into selling the 29-year-old in the summer if he does not commit to a new deal.

Manchester United are believed to be keeping a close eye on Kane's situation as they eye a permanent replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, but he is supposedly open to extending his stay at Tottenham under the right conditions.

Speaking to the Evening Standard after Monday's 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League, Kane admitted that there has been little focus on his contract situation recently, but he is planning to sit down with the club to discuss his future in the months ahead.

"There's not been much talk if I'm totally honest. I'm sure they'll be conversations over the coming months but to be honest I'm just focussed on this season and doing my best for the team," Kane said.

"There's still a lot to play for, trying to get in the Champions League, we have the FA Cup and the Champions League still to try to win. My focus is on that. I know there's going to be rumours, a lot of talk and speculation about my future but I'm just focussed on what I can do."

Kane could turn 30 without having won a major trophy at club level, although Spurs are still fighting for success in the FA Cup and Champions League this season after being knocked out of the EFL Cup to Nottingham Forest in the third round.

The England skipper reached the 2018-19 Champions League final with Tottenham, who lost to Liverpool 2-0 that year, but he remains intent on helping Spurs achieve their ambitions of silverware.

"Of course I still want to win trophies for Tottenham Hotspur. That's been my goal since I started playing first-team football with them," Kane added.

"It hasn't happened. I've been open about [how I feel about] that but I'll continue to try to achieve that. We have a really good squad, a fantastic manager and there's no reason why we still can't be successful this season. We've just got to put everything we can into it and see where we are come May."

Kane, who scored a record-equalling 266th Tottenham goal against Fulham on Monday, was also asked about the future of manager Antonio Conte, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio recently claimed that Conte is "certain" to leave Tottenham this summer, with the Lilywhites fifth in the Premier League table and three points off the top four, having played a game more than Manchester United and Newcastle United.

Kane was in no mood to discuss Conte's situation, although he confirmed his desire to continue working with the Premier League and Serie A title-winner, adding: "I'm not going talk about the manager's future.

"That's down to him. I'm sure he'll have conversations with the club and assess where we are as a team. He's had a lot going on, on and off the pitch, so he probably needs time to assess it all. From my point of view, I really enjoy working with him and it would be fantastic if he did stay."

Tottenham are next in action away to Preston North End in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, where Kane could overtake Jimmy Greaves and become Tottenham's all-time leading goalscorer with a 267th strike for the club.
