Spanish football journalist Graham Hunter has claimed that Real Madrid view Tottenham Hotspur attacker Christian Eriksen "as the perfect signing".
Eriksen, who has scored six times and registered nine assists in 26 appearances during the 2018-19 campaign, will see his current deal with Tottenham expire at the end of next season.
The 26-year-old has long been linked with a move to the Bernabeu, and Hunter has said that it will be one of Madrid's "highest priorities this summer" to bring the Denmark international to Spain.
"There is no question whatsoever that Real Madrid see Christian Eriksen as the perfect signing. They would like to add him to their squad this summer," Hunter told Sky Sports News.
"I think everybody respects the way that [Tottenham chairman] Daniel Levy conducts his transfer negotiations, but the power is always with the player and the buying club when a contract is running down in the way that Eriksen's contract is at Tottenham.
"I don't see too many indications from him that he is desperate to renew and, while I do believe in Tottenham's financial power, to be able to persuade him to stay, Daniel Levy's regime is not one that is quick to say 'don't worry, we will outpay everyone else, because we must absolutely retain you'.
"Real Madrid wish to add Eriksen, albeit he is not an identical player to [Real's Ballon d'Or winner] Luka Modric but there are patent similarities and, if Modric has his way, I think he will move to Inter Milan this summer. It is absolutely crystal clear that one of Real Madrid's highest priorities this summer will be to try and sign Christian Eriksen."
Eriksen has scored 62 times and registered 78 assists in 252 appearances for Tottenham since a 2013 move from Ajax.
