Florentino Perez hints that Real Madrid could make a bid for Gareth Bale this summer.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has dropped a hint that his side could make a move for Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale this summer.

The Welshman has been linked with the La Liga giants for a while now, with Perez previously claiming that the 23-year-old was "born to play" for Madrid.

Recent reports have claimed that the Spanish outfit could bid a record-breaking £85m for the player, and Perez has suggested that his side could make an offer to Spurs.

"Bale is one of Europe's great players and Real Madrid always likes great players," Perez told Punto Pelota.

"We have to improve our squad but we have to do it with tranquility - and we'll do that in the next weeks."

Bale joined Spurs from Southampton in 2007.
