Aston Villa have reportedly opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a £5m deal to sign winger Aaron Lennon.
The 28-year-old played 14 times and scored twice in a loan spell at Everton in the second half of last season after falling out of favour at White Hart Lane.
According to the Daily Mail, Villa boss Tim Sherwood is interested in raiding his former side for the England international to bolster the club's options in wide midfield.
Tottenham are believed to rate Lennon at £9m, and so any deal is likely to hinge on the clubs coming to a compromise over the fee.
The report adds that Sherwood is also still interested in bringing Lennon's Spurs teammate Andros Townsend to Villa Park, despite Townsend wanting to stay and fight for his place at Mauricio Pochettino's side.
