Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has admitted that his side aren't on the same level as FC Porto after losing 3-0 to the Portuguese side in a pre-season friendly.
Goals from Vincent Aboubakar, Alberto Bueno and Yacine Brahimi gave Porto the win, and Hughes hailed their "great ability".
He told the club's official website: "They are a first class side with a lot of experience and great ability. It was a good test and it was always going to be a hard contest, but we couldn't quite select a side that could level their qualities.
"They had good movement and a lot of playing patterns that they obviously work on, that included plenty of power and pace to move us around. Sadly we couldn't get on the front foot and put little bit of pressure on them, which really allowed them too much time and space.
"It's a game that we have taken and are pleased about because they are a quality opposition that has really tested us and that's what we needed."
Stoke open their Premier League campaign against Liverpool on Sunday.
