Stoke City and Everton record another draw

Stoke City and Everton both record their ninth draws of the season as Kenwyne Jones rescues a point for the Potters.

Draw specialists Stoke City and Everton both recorded their ninth draws of the season as Kenwyne Jones cancelled out Ryan Shawcross's own goal at the Britannia Stadium this afternoon.

The hosts enjoyed the first gilt-edge chance of the match when Steven N'Zonzi found himself unmarked four yards from goal, but his headed effort was straight at Tim Howard.

The Toffees hit straight back with a near miss of their own, Steven Naismith lifting the ball over Asmir Begovic, only for Ryan Shawcross to get back and clear it off the line.

Shawcross suffered a severe change in fortunes just minutes later, however, as he accidentally turned Steven Pienaar's inswinging cross into his own net.

Leon Osman had a great chance to double this lead before the break, but he shot wide from 10 yards.

Stoke began the second half brightest and took the lead seven minutes after the restart through Kenwyne Jones's towering header.

Jones almost grabbed another less than five minutes later, but he could only bundle the ball against the outside of the post from close range.

Stoke continued to look for a winner, and almost found it when Cameron Jerome's effort looked goalbound, but Howard pulled off a fine save to deny the striker.

Pienaar almost stole another dramatic win for Everton in the very last minute when he surged past two defenders, but he dragged his final effort wide to ensure that the spoils were shared.
