Sunderland forward Danny Graham has described Jeremain Lens as an "exciting signing" for the club.
The Dutch international striker joined the Black Cats from Dynamo Kiev for an undisclosed fee earlier this week.
Graham believes that the 27-year-old, who has penned a four-year deal, will give Sunderland strength in depth up front during the new campaign.
"It's an exciting signing for us," he told the club's official website. "It gives us more competition and keeps everyone on their toes which is a good thing.
"We need a big squad to keep up in the Premier League and that's what we were missing last year. You need as many players in as many positions who are more than capable to step up when needed.
"I think he's a really good signing. I don't know too much about him but I'm sure he's a good player – if the head coach wants him here he must be good and I think it gives the strength in depth that we were lacking last year."
Lens has scored eight goals in 29 appearances for the Netherlands since 2010.
