Connor Wickham confident goals and wins will come

Sunderland striker Connor Wickham believes that his side are close to turning their draws into wins in the Premier League following their point against West Ham United.

Sunderland striker Connor Wickham is confident that his side will start to turn their draws into wins in the near future.

The Black Cats drew for the 10th time this season as they took a point from their clash against West Ham United at the Stadium of Light, where Jordi Gomez's penalty was cancelled out by Stewart Downing.

Gus Poyet's men continue to struggle in front of goal, as his side have scored just one goal from open play in their last six matches.

Wickham told the club's official website: "I think we should have won because we created the chances to do so, but I also think West Ham United are a good side and we need to move forward with the positives from today.

"We are still creating a lot of chances so we just need to put a few more in the back of the net, and if we do that we will start winning games.

"We all work together defensively and get behind the ball which is hard work, but it is what the gaffer wants and as I said if we commit a little more going forward the goals will come."

Wickham has scored just two goals for Sunderland in 16 matches in the Premier League this season.
