Former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri has been appointed as the new manager of Monaco, despite holding talks with West Bromwich Albion.
The 60-year-old was thought to be a prime target for the Baggies, who are in the hunt for a new coach following the departure of Roy Hodgson to the England national side.
The Italian, who was sacked from Inter Milan midway through the season due to a poor Serie A campaign, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the French club.
Ranieri will try to launch the Ligue 2 side back up to the top flight next season after the club failed to reach the elite of French football during this year's campaign.
