David Moyes insists that he does not want to enter contract talks with West Ham United until the end of the season when both parties can assess their options.

David Moyes has stressed that he does not want to enter contract talks with West Ham United until the end of the season when both parties can assess their options.

The 54-year-old signed a short-term deal at the London Stadium in November which runs until the summer.

West Ham are currently fighting against relegation from the Premier League and, should they retain their top-flight place come May, Moyes could reportedly be offered a new deal.

Moyes, however, claims that no concrete plan is in place, telling reporters: "My job when I came here was to make sure we were a Premier League club. If you asked every West Ham supporter, nowadays being in the Premier League is where you want to be because of the games and the money as well.

"I'm happy. I'm telling you now I won't be talking about it with the club or anybody until the end of the season when we are up or down or wherever. That's me saying it, not the club, that's me saying that would be my choice.

"I won't have any discussion until the end of the season. I want to prove what I can do, to show what I can do. I want to see if I'm a fit for the club and if the club think I'm a fit for them as well. That's what I'm trying to do."

West Ham will spend Christmas 17th in the Premier League table, one point above the dropzone, after losing 3-2 to Newcastle United on Saturday.
