Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari has claimed pole position at the Canadian Grand Prix by achieving the fastest qualifying time.

The German edged out Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas by just 0.093 seconds to secure his first pole in Canada since 2001.

Briton Lewis Hamilton was on course for the top three until the final lap, when Red Bull's Max Verstappen pipped him to the finish line and condemned him to fourth.
