Sergio Marchionne has said that Ferrari are "much more optimistic" about their title-winning chances for 2016.

The Ferrari and Fiat Chrysler president was absent on Friday as the Maranello team revealed their new red and white car for 2016.

When asked about the goal, team boss Maurizio Arrivabene said during the online launch: "I am not setting the objectives, my boss sets the objective for the team. And this year we need to push a bit more.

"We would like to fight until the end for the championship."

While that event was taking place, Marchionne was meeting with Italian industry colleagues in Turin, but he is quoted by Italian media as saying: "It's a great car and we'll see it on track on Monday.

"But [the team] have worked on it for a year and are much more optimistic than last year."

The 2016 Formula 1 calendar gets underway in Australia next month.
