Mercedes Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton has claimed that his team do not want to take risks in practice due to the wet conditions at the Japanese Grand Prix.
It was a frustrating day for the competitors as rain descended onto the Suzuka circuit during practice one and practice two.
In last weekend's Singapore Grand Prix, Mercedes encountered problems, which resulted in Hamilton and teammate Nico Rosberg both missing out on a podium spot.
Due to today's rain, the team will only have tomorrow to test the car ahead of Sunday's race.
"You don't want to take too many risks today - there's no point damaging the car, damaging the gear box today so we've just been practising starts and getting a couple of laps, but otherwise not really much to learn," Hamilton told Sky Sports News.
"It's a shame for the fans - they've been sitting in the rain and not seen many cars go by, so it's boring for them."
The weather is expected to be dry over the weekend.
