Lewis Hamilton in no rush to sign new Mercedes contract

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton insists that he is in no rush to sign a new contract with the Formula 1 championship-winning team.

Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has insisted that he is "relaxed" about his contract situation with Mercedes.

The 30-year-old's current deal expires at the end of the 2015 campaign, and talks had begun regarding fresh terms last season.

However, those discussions were put on hold to allow the driver to focus on winning his second career championship title.

"We said last year we're relaxed - the team has acknowledged they want to continue with me and visa versa," Hamilton told Sky Sports News. "There's no stress - I'm comfortable and confident and trust they're not speaking to anyone else and they know that's the case with me too.

"I've not been back [to the factory]. As soon as I left the last race, I've been back at the factory for a couple of days, but I haven't sat down with the team."

The new season will get underway with the Australian Grand Prix in March.
