Mercedes' chief executive officer Nick Fry has admitted that the England-based team are keeping Paul Di Resta on their "radar".
Speculation has surfaced linking the Scotsman with a switch from Force India to Mercedes with the idea of replacing Michael Schumacher, who is expected to retire from Formula 1 for the second time in his career at the end of the season.
"Of course Paul's on our radar," Fry told Sky Sports News. "He's done a fantastic job.
"He's a nice guy, he's great team player and he would be one of the drivers undoubtedly that, if Michael were to decide he didn't want to continue, we would look at. But we haven't reached that time yet in our thinking but we have all got a lot of admiration for Paul."
The 26-year-old has also been touted as Felipe Massa's replacement at Ferrari.
