Bernie Ecclestone plays down rumours that he could be replaced as Formula 1 supremo by Sainbury's boss Justin King.

Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has attempted to distance himself away from suggestions that he could step down from his role within the sport.

The head of supermarket chain Sainsbury's Justin King has been heavily linked with the role, but Ecclestone has refused to confirm or deny such speculation.

"I've no idea whether the boss of a company like Sainsbury's could do my job. Maybe he could," The Guardian quotes Ecclestone as saying.

Meanwhile, the F1 season continues with the Chinese Grand Prix on April 14.
