Rory McIlroy keeps his hopes of a first Masters title alive with a seven-under round to take him within three shots of leader Patrick Reed going into the final day.

Rory McIlroy will go toe to toe with America's Patrick Reed on the final day of The Masters after closing to within three shots of the lead on day three at Augusta.

The Northern Irishman, who is bidding to win his first green jacket and complete a clean sweep of the Majors, was one of three players to produce a round of seven-under on a day of low scoring.

Overnight leader Reed was unable to match McIlroy's round, which included five birdies and one eagle, although he refused to let go of his advantage and goes into the final day with a three-shot cushion having recorded a round of five-under himself.

Reed is now on 14-under for the tournament and is bidding to become the first Masters champion to shoot four rounds of under 70 as he goes in search of his first Major title.

The 27-year-old produced birdies on the 13th and 15th to keep himself clear of the chasing pack, which also includes Rickie Fowler and Jon Rahm on nine-under and eight-under respectively after they both carded rounds of 65.

England's Tommy Fleetwood also kept his own hopes alive with a six-under round to move up to sixth, while Tiger Woods remains on four-over following a par round.
