Sergio Garcia has pulled out of the world championships in Shanghai next week in order to rest.
The Spaniard, who won the Andalucia Masters on Sunday, was in contention of a third successive title in Shanghai.
Despite qualifying for the WGC-HSBC Champions event, the 31-year-old has relinquished his spot to American Jim Furyk.
The world number one, Luke Donald, will also be absent from the tournament as his wife is expecting their second child.
