Newly-crowned winner of the US PGA Championship Jimmy Walker has admitted that the final day was a "battle".
The 37-year-old American won his first Major by carding an unblemished three-under-par 67 at Baltusrol on Sunday.
Walker, who is ranked number 15 in the world, was forced to play 36 holes on the final day due to a weather delay on Saturday.
After the third round he had a one-shot lead, but had to battle the world's number one and defending champion Jason Day for the title.
In the end, Walker took the crown by one shot after Day failed to recover from two bogeys on the first and third holes.
"Sometimes things just don't come easy," USA Today quotes Walker as saying. "Sometimes pars are hard but we got that one. There's a lot of emotion going on out there, I'm not going to lie to you. It was a battle all day long.
"There was nothing easy about the day, really about the week, for that matter, especially coming down the last hole. I felt confident in myself. I felt confident in what I was doing, felt confident in my golf swing, my putting, my chipping. [I] kind of tried to wrap myself around that - that everything was feeling good, and to go with that and trust what I was doing. Trust all the stuff that I have been working on, and that's what I tried to apply out there."
Daniel Summerhays finished third in the field with a four-under-par 66 round.
