Dustin Johnson: 'I expect to play well at Baltusrol'

World number two Dustin Johnson says that he expects the tough course conditions at Baltusrol to benefit his performance at the US PGA Championship.

Dustin Johnson has backed himself to perform well at the US PGA Championship because of the tough course conditions at Baltusrol.

The American won his first Major title at the US Open in June and his recent form has taken him to number two in the world rankings but while Johnson is taking confidence from his results in June and July, he feels that playing on difficult layouts brings out the best in him.

The 32-year-old told reporters: "I'm feeling good. I've got a lot of confidence in the game. I feel like I've been playing really consistent all year. I like the Majors. I feel like I do very well on really hard golf courses where pars are good scores.

"When I'm on really tough golf courses, I feel like I'm more focused because I'm really trying to hit the ball to a certain spot, instead of a lot of times when I struggle just staying mentally focused on every shot."

Johnson has finished in the top 10 on four of his last six appearances at the US PGA Championship.
