Justin Rose frustrated by putting form

Justin Rose admits that his form with the putter has left him frustrated ahead of the US PGA Championship.

Justin Rose has admitted that his inconsistent form on the greens is a source of frustration for him ahead of the US PGA Championship.

The world number six was in contention in another tournament at the weekend after shooting a 63 on Saturday at the Bridgestone Invitational, but he missed four key short putts in the final round on the way to finishing in a tie for third in Ohio.

Despite believing that he is in the form to challenge at the final Major of the year, Rose claims that his chances will depend on whether he can rediscover his best form with the putter.

"My putting is frustrating because I feel I can win every week I am playing," Rose told The Mirror. "It is all about practice. I don't know how many putts I will hit before teeing off on Thursday – hundreds and hundreds.

"The last two weeks have been: putt well one day, putt poorly the next, putt well, putt poorly, putt well, putt poorly. To finish sixth, fourth and third and have that going on has been good and bad.

"It is not bad enough where it is costing me too much but obviously the margin between winning and losing is small and for me to get over the hurdle there and be lifting silverware is making more putts."

Rose missed the cut when the US PGA Championship was last held at Whistling Straits in 2010.
