European squad member Nicolas Colsaerts has admitted that USA's vice-captain Fred Couples was his childhood hero.
The pair will have different agendas over the weekend as Europe and the USA compete for the 39th Ryder Cup at the Medinah Country Club in Chicago.
Putting aside his allegiance for one minute earlier today, Belgium's Colsaerts revealed that Couples was the only player that he admired as a youngster.
"Fred was always a cool character," Colsaerts told reporters. "I loved the laziness about him. I think I walk the same way. Fred Couples was the only guy I looked up to."
Colsaerts was a wildcard pick for the event by captain Jose Maria Olazabal.
