Shane Lowry feeling "comfortable" after US Open second round

Shane Lowry insists that he is "in a great position for the weekend" after a score of 69 on day two of the US Open.

Irish golfer Shane Lowry has said that he is satisfied with his performance on day two of the US Open after a round of 69.

The 28-year-old is on one-under-par heading into the weekend and is currently just five shots off the lead at Chambers Bay.

He told Sky Sports News: "It was one of those days that I'm quite happy with. It could have been a little bit better, but I'm in a great position for the weekend.

"The good thing for me is I'm feeling a bit more comfortable on the greens. Not 100%, but I'm liking what I'm doing and liking the way I'm hitting my putts."

This year marks the first time that Lowry has made the cut at the US Open, after failures in 2011 and 2014.
