Great Britain gymnast Laura Gallagher has revealed how she is having to learn new skills all over again following her lengthy lay-off.
The 26-year-old was out of action for nearly 10 months after damaging her back in training last year.
Gallagher, who also has anxiety issues to contend with, will need to be at the top of her game if she is to prevail in both the individual trampoline event and the synchronised equivalent.
"Right from the end of the December, I started back, that was really baby steps," she told reporters. "It's been a bit tricky. I feel fit now and really strong. This is my second competition back."
Asked about her ongoing battle with anxiety, the Taunton native added: "I felt alone, trapped. Mentally, it's challenging. It does take a lot of energy. Now I know how to manage and I can manage well, it's kind of learning a new skill."
Gallagher will partner Katherine Driscoll in the synchronised competition.
