Great Britain miss out on medal as Louis Smith falls off pommel

Great Britain's men narrowly miss out on Olympic bronze as Japan win gold in the men's gymnastics team final at Rio 2016.

The Great Britain men's gymnastics team has narrowly missed out on bronze at the Rio Olympics as Japan won gold in the team final.

Louis Smith, Max Whitlock, Kristian Thomas, Nile Wilson and Brinn Bevan finished with 269.725 points, with Smith falling off the pommel while attempting a complicated final rotation.

A late surge from Japan ensured that they won their second gold of the 2016 Games with a score of 274.095, with the Russian Federation second with 271.453 points.

Meanwhile, China's eight-year reign as Olympic champions is over, but a score of 271.122 means that they snatch the bronze from Team GB, who finish fourth.
