England women's hockey team have beaten Malaysia 3-0 to confirm their place in the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games.
England were looking to bounce back from the surprise defeat at the hands of India last time out - a result which put their progression into the semi-finals on hold.
However, they made light work of Malaysia at the Gold Coast Hockey Centre this evening to ensure that they will feature in the medal rounds, giving them the chance to fight for at least a bronze.
England managed 29 shots to Malaysia's eight throughout the match, but they failed to turn their dominance into goals in the first half as they went into half time with only a 1-0 lead courtesy of Eleanor Watton's seventh-minute strike.
It took less than five minutes for England to add to that lead after the interval courtesy of Hannah Martin's goal, and a third from Sophie Bray less than eight minutes from time finally wrapped up the victory.
England must now wait to see which other teams join them in the semi-finals, with New Zealand currently topping Pool B ahead of Australia, although the host nation have a game in hand.
