Video: Barcelona star Luis Suarez acts as doctor to surprise young cancer patient

A young cancer patient is left in tears after being surprised by one of his footballing heroes - Barcelona striker Luis Suarez.

Barcelona star Luis Suarez left a young cancer patient feeling emotional after pretending to be a doctor for a fake consultation via Skype.

The 28-year-old, who moved to Barca from Liverpool for £75m last summer, put on a fake persona by claiming on the phone that he was a doctor based in Spain.

Mateo, who is a Barcelona fan, was completely unaware that he was talking to one of his footballing heroes until Suarez revealed himself on the screen.

At the sight of the prolific striker, the youngster, who was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, shed a few tears and admitted that he felt "moved".

Suarez promised to send him a match-worn Barcelona shirt and added: "With that emotion you have now, this is how you have to be - to listen to the doctors, do the treatments, take your medication. Do you hear me? Listen to me. Do you know you're a champion? You are very brave, a fighter, so you must keep going."

Matea is cared for by the Scremini Perez Foundation, which covers all costs for children battling with cancer in Uruguay.
