Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze reportedly acquired the services of a police escort following the announcement of his impending transfer in the summer.
The 20-year-old sparked controversy among the supporters when it was confirmed that he will sign for the club's Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, who triggered the £32m release clause in his contract.
It is believed that Gotze needed a police escort to and from training when the news was announced on Tuesday in order to protect himself from any angry fans, according to the Daily Mail.
Some fans held 'Gotze out' banners written in German during last night's Champions League semi-final first-leg 4-1 victory over Real Madrid, while others are thought to have burned replicas of his number 10 shirt.
