Cardiff City's Steven Caulker donates £40,000 to rebuild school in Sierra Leone

Cardiff City captain Steven Caulker donates £40,000 of his own money to help rebuild a school in Sierra Leone.

Cardiff City captain Steven Caulker has revealed that he has taken £40,000 out of his own pocket to donate to a school in Sierra Leone.

The 22-year-old set a fundraising target of £75,000 to help rebuild a school in Kambia Town, but reached just £35,000 last season.

"It's my grandfather's homeland and my heart lies out there in a way," Wales Online quotes Caulker as saying.

"I pledged £75,000 and that's what they will get. I will make up the difference. This is important to me."

Caulker is planning to fly out to Sierra Leone this summer to get involved in the building process.
