Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly been granted Israeli citizenship after struggling to obtain a new visa to re-enter the UK.
Israeli news site Ynet has revealed that the Russian billionaire, who is Jewish, flew to Tel Aviv on Monday and obtained the necessary documents.
According to Sky Sports News, Abramovic was forced to turn to Israel as the increased tensions between Britain and Moscow led to his visa application taking "longer than usual".
An Israeli visa allows Abramovich to re-enter the UK and stay there for six months, although he is required to obtain a work visa to conduct business in the territory.
The UK government has declined to comment on the case.
