Auction house expects record bids for signed Johnny Manziel jersey

An auction house is expecting record bids when it sells a college jersey signed by Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel next month.

An auction house has said that it expects to receive record bids when it sells a signed Johnny Manziel jersey next month.

SCP Auctions has obtained a Texas A&M Aggies jersey worn by the Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback during his Heisman Trophy-winning college season.

The company's vice president Dan Imler told ESPN: "This is his only game-used jersey from his college career that has come to market. It has been a long time since we've seen a player as polarising as Johnny Football. He has got an electrifying personality and everyone is either rooting for or against him."

The auction house is expecting to receive bids of up to $100,000 (£59,000), believing the current record for a college jersey to stand at £27,000 (£16,000).
