Documentary of Bobby Moore's life to be released in summer of 2016

A new Bobby Moore feature documentary goes into full production ahead of its release in the summer of 2016.

A new documentary of Bobby Moore's life and career has gone into full production ahead of its nationwide release in the summer of 2016.

The piece will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the 1966 World Cup final, in which Moore captained England to a 4-2 triumph over West Germany at Wembley.

Documentary BO66Y, which is produced by sports journalist Matthew Lorenzo and directed by Ron Scalpello, will tell Moore's story, detailing the challenges that he faced on and off the pitch.

The Football Association has given its backing for the feature, while fans have been encouraged to help complete the documentary with crowdfunding through Kickstarter.

"Bobby Moore is a forgotten hero - there are people who still love him, but he's been lost from popular culture and that's why I want to make this film - to celebrate his life with the people who love him most," said Lorenzo.

"We want to invite the fans to be a part of this historic film. With their help, we'll be able to do his story justice and make the film part of the legacy he truly deserves."

A share of the profits will go to the Bobby Moore Fund for research into bowel cancer.
