Hearts have warned that they are close to going out of business after being handed a tax bill of £450,000.

Hearts have warned that they may not survive beyond the end of the month after being issued with a £450,000 tax bill.

The Edinburgh giants have asked supporters to buy match tickets in advance and join the club's share scheme to try to help ease their desperate plight.

"This isn't a bluff, this isn't scaremongering, this is reality," read a statement from Hearts.

"Without the support of fans there is a real risk that Hearts could possibly play its last game on November 17.

"Without your help now, we could be entering the final days of the club's existence."

The Scottish Premier League have informed Hearts that they may be forced to take action if their outstanding tax bill is not cleared before the eight-day deadline.
