Kick It Out welcome Liverpool's new handbook, which gives staff guidelines on what phrases and words said by supporters are discriminatory.

Anti-discrimination group Kick It Out have supported Liverpool's decision to create a list of words that are deemed unacceptable.

The Merseyside outfit will issue guidelines to matchday staff at Anfield, making them aware of what is deemed discriminatory language from supporters.

Certain phrases including, 'don't be a woman', 'that's gay', and 'fairy' have been placed in the list.

According to The Independent, Kick It Out chairman Lord Herman Ouseley released a statement that said: "Kick It Out acknowledges the great strides that Liverpool FC has taken over recent times to reiterate their continued commitment to equality.

"The guide forms part of an overall awareness programme, and is a positive and proactive step in educating staff and stewards at the club."

The aim of the handbook is to eradicate slurs relating to race, sexual orientation, disability, gender and religion.
