Liverpool owner John W Henry is ready to sell the club for £1.54bn, according to a report.

Liverpool owner John W Henry is reportedly ready to sell the club.

Henry purchased Liverpool in 2010 for $447m (£343.5m), but according to the New York Post, the billionaire is 'privately considering offers' for the Premier League outfit.

The report claims that Henry, who also owns MLB outfit Boston Red Sox, wants around $2bn (£1.54bn) to sell the Reds, with the Merseyside giants 'quietly on the market'.

Liverpool suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on Tuesday night, but are still unbeaten in the Premier League this season, with a total of 27 points leaving them third in the table.

Fenway Sports Group - Henry's holding company - reportedly rejected a world-record £2bn offer to buy the club earlier this year, with the bid arriving from one of the cousins of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour.
