Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney turned his focus to sponsorship commitments when he joined up with golfer Rory McIlroy to reportedly film an advert for Nike.

According to the Daily Mail, the pair, who are both associated with the global sports brand, were spotted at a Nike promotional event in Cheshire.

The 27-year-old showed off his football skills during a kickabout with McIlroy, who is a United supporter, while the Irishman practiced his golf swing later on in the day.

The pair were both spotted dining at Neighbourhood bar and restaurant in Manchester the previous evening.
