McLaren Formula 1 driver Jenson Button opens up about the death of his father, who passed away at the age of 70 in January.

McLaren Formula 1 driver Jenson Button has opened up about the "horrific" last few months following the death of his father.

John Button passed away at the age of 70 at his home on the French Riviera in January.

"It's a stake through my heart," Button told the Daily Mail. "It's been a pretty strange couple of months.

"I would say horrific, but in a certain way it has been nice too to hear all the good stories about my father, about how helpful he was to people, including things I didn't even know about. It's great seeing how many people he touched."

Button, who will compete in Sunday's Australian Grand Prix to begin the 2014 F1 season, recently became engaged to girlfriend Jessica Michibata.
