Former Netherlands striker Dick Nanninga has passed away at the age of 66.

Dutch club Roda JC confirmed the news about Nanninga, who scored in the 1978 World Cup final against Argentina before they went on to win 3-1 in extra time.

The striker, who spent months in a coma back in 2012 when his lower leg had to be amputated, made just 15 appearances for his country across 1974 and 2010.

Roda JC did not reveal the cause of death.
