New Orleans police have charged a man with murder after NFL player Will Smith was shot dead on Saturday night.
The 34-year-old former New Orleans Saints defensive end, who won the Super Bowl in 2009, was killed after being shot multiple times during a road-rage incident.
Police have confirmed that the American Football player was driving in the Lower Garden District when he hit a vehicle in front of him after being rear-ended.
After the crash, Smith and Cardell Hayes, 28, who was the driver of the car that hit the sportsman, "exchanged words" before a handgun was drawn and bullets were fired.
According to The AP, Mr Hayes has been charged with second-degree murder.
Smith's wife Racquel, who is the mother of the NFL player's three children, was also shot and taken to hospital, but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
