Robert Allenby 'kidnapped and robbed' in Hawaii

Australian golfer Robert Allenby says that he was kidnapped, robbed and beaten during a night out in Hawaii after his exit from the Sony Open.

Australian golfer Robert Allenby has said that he was kidnapped and robbed following a night out in Hawaii after failing to make the cut at the US PGA Tour's Sony Open.

The 43-year-old was drinking with a friend and claims that he may have been drugged before being taken from the bar, robbed, beaten and dumped in a park.

He told news agency AAP: "I didn't think I was going to survive this one. I was separated from my friend in the bar after we had paid the tab at 22:48 and he went to the bathroom and next thing you know I'm being dumped in a park miles away."

Local media has reported that police are investigating the incident.
