A punter has reportedly picked up £160,000 after betting on jockey Richard Hughes, who won seven of his eight races yesterday.
The 39-year-old completed his winning run at Windsor yesterday by initially clinching the first five races followed by a third-place finish and a subsequent double victory at odds of 10,168-1.
Ladbrokes spokesman David Williams said: "It was very nearly a total wipe-out. Once we've finished paying out and gritting our teeth we'll probably look back on a fantastic day for racing punters."
Hughes has now placed his name in the record books alongside Frankie Dettori as one of the only two jockeys to win seven races in one day.
