James Alexander Gordon has announced that he will retire from his broadcasting role on BBC radio.
The 77-year-old made his name when he took on the role of reading the classified football results on air, but required surgery to remove his larynx after being diagnosed with cancer that resulted in his voice not being strong enough to do the job.
"It's with great sorrow that I have to give up the most exciting part of my career, the classified football results," Gordon told BBC Sport. "They have been my life."
Gordan began his role with BBC radio in 1973.
