Paralympian Oscar Pistorius could testify in court this week as his murder trial in Pretoria resumes on Monday following a recess.
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel is expected to wrap up his case by the middle of this week after the High Court granted a recess last Wednesday.
Proceedings will then be handed over to the defence, in which Pistorius's lawyer Barry Roux is expected to call the double amputee to give his version of events to the court, according to Sky Sports News.
The 27-year-old is accused of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, whom he shot dead through a bathroom door at his home on Valentine's Day last year.
Pistorius has admitted to shooting the South African model, but denies murder by maintaining that he mistook her for an intruder when he fired the gunshots.
The trial has been extended to May 16 after a week-long recess was arranged for April.
