The Premier League has confirmed that it will drop the crowned lion from its logo as part of a major brand revamp next season.
The league will be known simply as the 'Premier League' from 2016-17 after its long-term sponsorship deal with Barclays comes to an end.
According to the Daily Mail, the league wants to "maximise having a clean brand with no title sponsor" and has invited creative agencies to tender for the rebranding exercise.
Separately, the Football League will undergo its own rebrand next season, when it will be known as the 'English Football League'.
