Former NBA star Dennis Rodman has returned from North Korea claiming that he is "sorry" for the "certain situations" going on in the country.
The 52-year-old caused controversy when he took a US basketball team to play in a celebratory match for the birthday of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un last week.
Rodman's friendship with the political figure has raised eyebrows due to the country's poor human rights record.
"I'm sorry for what's going on in North Korea, the certain situations," Rodman told CNN after leaving the Asian country.
"I'm not God, I'm not [an] ambassador, I'm no one. I just want to show the world the fact that we can actually get along in sport. That is it!"
Rodman sang 'Happy Birthday' to Kim Jong-Un during last week's event in Pyongyang.
